Genevieve M. Buddle, age 85, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Utica. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side.
She was born on April 14, 1937, in Columbia, Herkimer County, son of the late Martin Sarafin and Mary (Hugick) Sarafin. She was raised on the family farm in Columbia and in 1955 graduated from Richfield Springs Central School.
On September 20, 1958 she was united in marriage with Robert Buddle in Saint Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at various jobs, retiring as a ward clerk from Bassett Hospital in 1986.
Genevieve had a strong belief in the goodness of God and found great joy in the beauty of nature and being outdoors, even in the last months of her life. She will be remembered as a excellent cook and green thumb. She loved to create decorations and gifts for others. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her devoted husband of 64 years, son R. Mark Buddle (Kary), son David, both of Richfield Springs, and daughter Marlene Indilicato (Chris) of Guilderland. She is also survived by sisters Marian Staruck of Jordanville, Martha Stark of Herkimer, and Ann Szeflinski of Richfield Springs, and brother Paul of Jordanville, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sister Katherine Kryszczuk, brothers Charles, Joseph, John, Stanley, Martin, and Leon Sarafin, and two infant sisters Ida and Emma.
Calling hours for Mrs. Buddle will take place on Thursday from 9:00 until 10:30 am in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am in Saint Joseph the Worker RC Church, Richfield Springs. The Reverend Rendell Torres, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Springfield Center Cemetery, Springfield Center. Expressions of sympathy may be made to The Richfield Springs Food Bank or The Richfield Springs Library. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
