Genevieve Burgess Gonzalez

Genevieve Burgess Gonzalez was born January 15, 1931 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She completed her life journey on October 23, 2024 at the age of 93 years old.
Genevieve is proceeded in death by her husband, Juan M. Gonzalez, her parents Ray and Rose Burgess and her son John Anthony Gonzalez. She is survived by her three children, Janet (Jim) Kovaric, Jerald (Belinda) Gonzalez and Jeannine (Ronnie) Frenzel. She is also survived by her two sisters Sylvia (Henry) Alvarez and Patricia (Danny) Vela. Genevieve was the proud grandmother and great grandmother to numerous grandchildren.
Genevieve lived a long and prosperous life and was truly devoted to her husband Juan for 62 years. Together they traveled the world, built several successful businesses including a furniture store and their well-known flower shop. They pursued their dream to become educators and obtained their Degrees in Education. They lived out that dream teaching children throughout Corpus Christi. She was extremely talented in floral design, arts, crafts, jewelry making but most of all for her famous Tamale making skills. She enjoyed gardening and sharing her knowledge of flowers with everyone. She spent endless hours researching her family genealogy and was very active in Political campaigns here in Corpus Christi. She was so proud to be from Corpus Christi and always attended charitable events that improved her community.
Genevieve left behind a true Legacy of Love and compassion that touched and changed many lives. She will be truly missed. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Harbor Hospice and Visiting Angels, as well as the Maldonado and Cortez families.
Visitation will held at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel on October 27th from 3pm – 5pm for family and from 5pm to 9pm for the public. A Rosary will be recited at 7pm at Seaside Funeral Home that same evening. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10am October 28th at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Corpus Christi with interment following at Rose Hill Memorial Cemetery.
Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Arick Cortez, Dylan Armendariz, Michael Moctezuma, Mitchell Moctezuma, Mahlon Moctezuma and Jon Koehler.
