Genevieve Kurdyla

Genevieve Kurdyla, 99, of Carteret, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at home. She was born in Carteret and was a life-long resident. Genevieve was a devoted catholic and was a life-long parishioner of Holy Family RC Church in Carteret, where she was an active member of the Choir and the Altar Rosary. She traveled the world with her husband visiting Shrines, Churches and Cathedrals. Genevieve retired from Prudential in Newark, NJ after 44 years of service.


Predeceased by her husband, Joseph Kurdyla; nephew, Henry F. Kurdyla; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Genevieve is survived by her loving nephews, John E. Kurdyla and his wife, Theresa, Albert Zachik and his wife, Nancy, Neil Sawczak and his wife, Myrian and Richard Sawczak and his wife, Donna; her beloved niece, Marian Kurdyla; 6 great nieces and 2 great nephews; and 2 great-great nieces and 3 great-great nephews.


Funeral will be on Friday, October 13, 2023 starting at 9:30 AM at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Avenue in Carteret, followed by a 10 AM Mass at Divine Mercy Parish-Holy Family Church in Carteret. Entombment will be at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, from 5 PM to 8 PM.
