Genevieve Helen Rains, 86, of Rochelle, passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2025 at the Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL. Genevieve was born at home in Rochelle IL on Dec 3rd 1939 to Harold J. Berkheimer and Daisy Anna Koch. She married her Childhood sweetheart Raymond Bedford Rains on October 12th 1956. God Blessed them with 5 children, Dale, Russell, Mark, Dawn and Korrena. They also adopted a son Daniel. She was preceeded in death by her husband Raymond Rains, her biological father, Harold Berkheimer and as she liked to call him, her "Real Dad" PD Russell, Daisy Russell her mother, many in-laws, her oldest son Dale, third son Mark, son-in-law Lloyd Sutton and great grand baby Quinton Liam.
Genevieve is survived by her son, Russell Rains of Ashton, and two daughters: Dawn (Robert) Pittman of Ashton, and Korrena Sutton of Alabama. She had 10 grandchildren, Lindsey Cooper, Allyssa Rains Joseph Rains, Corissa Wallace, Amanda Newman, Nick Pittman, Melissa Grimes, Heather Bartlett, Joshua Sutton and Haley Good; her four siblings: June (Bob) Leprich Cortland, IL, Connie (Bill) Curths Trinity, FL, Debbie (Randy) Wenckens Odessa, FL, and Brian (Rhonda) Russell Odessa, FL, and many nieces and great nieces and nephews. She had 25 Great Grandchildren, 8 babies that went to be with the Lord too soon, but will meet them there for the first time and 3 ex daughters-in-law that were always considered her daughters, Doris Carlos, Kelly Stevens and Tonya Cooper.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rochelle, IL. For many years, after moving, she transfered membership to Oregon First Baptist and then transferred back to Rochelle when she didn't trust herself to drive anymore.
She was on the board at the Hub City Senior Center for many years, she loved working with and being with the elderly. She had many jobs in her lifetime. Working as a nurses aid at the hospital and nursing home - then called Americana. The funniest job she had was grinding dirt at Nu-Ag years ago. She had a house cleaning business for many years. Also, worked in housekeeping at Rochelle Hospital until Retiring in 2005. Not fully retired, still hung on to one of her favorite houses to clean because of the owners who became two of her closest friends of which she had many. She cleaned for these folks for over 30 years. She loved you so, Mike and Julie Hardesty. Genevieve loved spending time with family and friends and spending time at church and reading her bible. She loved baking pies and going to music shows.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 18, from 9:30-11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Rochelle, IL. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. Memorial is to be established. Visit www.ungerhorner.com for online guest book.
