Geoffrey Hamlet Faulkner

July 30, 2025

Geoffrey Hamlet Faulkner passed quietly into eternity on July 30, 2025. He died while at home. He was dearly loved by his family coworkers, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Hunter Faulkner, and Helen Janet Sturgill Faulkner. Geoff is survived by his brother James Hunter Faulkner, Jr., wife Sarah Akers Faulkner and their three daughters; his sister Sarah (Sally) Faulkner Wiley, her husband Miles C. Wiley III and their two sons.

Geoff was born in Charlotte, NC on March 16, 1958, and died at the age of 67. He graduated from Myers Park High School and then attended University of North Carolina Wilmington where he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in geology.

Geoff's wit, wisdom, and understated humor contributed to his unique personality. His nieces and nephews remember him from family gatherings for birthdays, holidays, and graduations. Although Geoff was never married and had no children, he adopted all of his nieces and nephews; they were precious to him. He was their second, "Daddy." One niece remembers Geoff as a kind person that you felt peace with, "You could always relax around him...He would either genuinely listen or say something funny or light-hearted." Geoff had a loyal and caring heart that we all experienced.

With his keen interest in history, Geoff held his own when discussing local and national news and politics. He was an avid reader and history buff. Geoff especially enjoyed Civil War and World War II history. He read Popular Mechanics, and was always up on the latest technical advancements, if not always the latest in IT.

He was also a fine chef, having inherited his mother's recipes when he took over the cooking while she was incapacitated during his high school years. He made a wonderful turkey tetrazzini, an innovative Green Bean Casserole, his mom's spaghetti sauce, as well as smoking an admirable Boston Butt.

Geoff was an avid sports fan, supporting and rooting for all of the North Carolina schools, but his all-time favorite team was the Duke Blue Devils. During his college years he competed with the University of North Carolina Wilmington crew team. He continued his rowing quest by joining the Catawba Yacht Club. The team competed in local and national events winning several medals. The Club's Board of Governors awarded Geoff the title of Club Commodore for the year 2002 for outstanding leadership.

Later on, Geoff took up bicycling and enjoyed riding the bike trails in Charlotte. He also enjoyed tennis, golf, camping and canoeing with his family and friends.

Geoff was proud to be employed by Carolina Products, Inc. He enjoyed being a part of this special family as he worked diligently to solve technical issues and to keep supplies coming in to produce electrical panels for companies nationwide.

There will be a Celebration of Life at 11:30 AM on November 1, 2025 at the Red Rocks Café, 4223 Providence Road #8, Charlotte, NC 28211.
