Geoffrey Kingman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 31, 2025.
Geoffrey Andrew Kingman, 58, passed away on January 28, 2025 in Denver CO. Geoffrey was born in July 1966 in Baltimore, MD, to Pat (Priscilla) Ward Kingman and Lyall Leon Kingman.

Geoffrey grew up in Towson, MD. He attended McDonogh School where he ran on the cross country team. Always enjoying spending time outdoors and on the road, Geoffrey enrolled in the Audubon Expedition School where he and other students and faculty traveled throughout the United States while taking classes on a school bus. He also spent a season in the Arctic as a volunteer observer in a bird nesting research project. He entered Hampshire College in Amherst, MA in 1985 and graduated in 1990. He focused his studies on video production, and created a feature documentary about a unique nature-based children's learning center.

After graduating, Geoff worked for many years as a freelance video editor. The scope of his projects evolved over time. While living in Brooklyn, NY he produced numerous promotional videos for television personalities. He then moved to Los Angeles, CA where he lived for many years, constantly evolving his skills to keep pace with rapidly changing technologies and tastes. Eventually, his work began to focus on editing broadcasts of a wide variety of sports events with worldwide appeal. This ultimately led to employment with NBC Universal Sports, and a move to Denver CO.

Geoff loved living in Denver, where he enjoyed the mountain views and going for scenic drives. He enjoyed mountain rambles in his limited edition Mazda Miata, and tooled about town in a sporty Subaru WRX Impreza. He was a devoted cat lover, and always had either one or two cats. He sometimes took on difficult cats and gave them a comfortable and caring home.

Geoff was predeceased by both of his parents, and is survived by his siblings, Alan (Bonnie) of Towson, MD and Abigail of Goshen, MA. Memorial donations may be made to the Denver Dumb Friends League animal shelter in Denver, CO.
