Sophia Rose Robohn passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Sophia, known as Sophie by her family and her oldest friends, was a devoted cat lover, a gifted social media designer, a dependable restaurant manager who stepped into any role when needed, a lover of poetry, and a thoughtful academic with a curious and searching mind. She moved through life with creativity, compassion, and a quiet strength that left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Sophia was born in
Peekskill, NY on December 18, 1993, to Suzanne Robohn, who was her cheerleader, supporter and friend who loved her boundlessly. She was a Girl Scout. She played soccer. She twirled. She danced, which she took with her through high school. Her aunts and uncles were her eager playmates. As an only child, she held her friends dear, and there was rarely a weekend night that she didn't have a sleepover, and her friends became another child to her mother. In her high school years, those friendships became an extension of her family.
Sophia graduated from Mahopac High School with the class of 2012. As a sophomore, she joined a volunteer group, buildOn, and traveled to Nicaragua, where she lived with and befriended a local family, and helped build a new school. She attended Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, a school that encouraged her free thinking, her insatiable curiosity, and her need for self-expression. During her time in college, she also worked as an EMT, caring for others even as she continued to discover her own path.
Sophia was preceded in death by her beloved grandfather, James H. Robohn Sr. in 2000. "Pop-Pop" adored his first grandchild. He spent countless quiet moments reading with her and made it a point to be there for her every day-meeting her bus when he moved his office home-until his passing just two days after her seventh birthday. She was also preceded in death by her father, Clint J Burton.
Sophia is survived by her mother, Suzanne Robohn and Suzanne's dearest friend John Napolitano, her loving 'Mimi', Mary Robohn, her aunts and uncles, Jay (Cori), Tony (Meghan), Maria, Andrew, and Jonathan; her life partner, Chase Eaione; her two sisters Meggan Cherry and Kaitlyn Young; and many cousins who loved her dearly. She was also deeply devoted to her cats Sherman and Boo, who miss her profoundly. All who knew her knew how deeply she loved her cat, Chuck, and that love continued to live on in his memory.
Her family cherished Sophie from the moment she was born and helped raise her to become the woman she was. The noble work she did, and her spirit can inspire the younger survivors to live as she did.
Sophia's life was one of connections to family, to friends, to ideas, to animals, and to the people she helped along the way. She will be remembered for her kindness, her creativity, her loyalty, and the love she gave so freely. Even in her passing, Sophia offered one final, extraordinary gift. Through the donation of her heart and other organs, coordinated by LiveOnNY, she gave life and hope to another - a final act of generosity that reflects the way she lived: with empathy, courage, and love.
