Mona Tierney Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Mona Anne Tierney, 80, wife of the late Joseph Tierney of Brookfield, died peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday November 5th, 2025 at Danbury Hospital. She was married to the love of her life for 52 years. Mona was a resident of Brookfield for 48 years.
Mona was born on November 17th, 1944, in Brooklyn, NY, devoted daughter of the late John Joseph Harris and Mona Anne Harris (Fallon). She graduated from Mahopac High School and Berkeley Secretarial School.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Brookfield. Her faith in God was unwavering. If she knew you, you would frequently hear that she was praying for you every day. Mona was the person who would give you the shirt off her back. She was generous with everything in life. She absolutely loved animals and enjoyed watching the birds in her birdfeeders. Her favorite way to start the day was with her Dunkin iced coffee and a donut. Mona's most cherished roles were that of "Mom" and "Grandma". Her face lit up anytime she spoke about her grandchildren. She loved hearing about their academics, sports, and activities.
Mona was a devoted mother to her children: Colleen Martinez and her husband Kenny, Christopher Tierney and his wife Therese, and Jonathan Tierney; "Grandma" to her beloved grandchildren: Jack (19), Christopher (15), Nicholas (14), and Tessa (13); proud "big sister" to Madeleine Harris, Kevin Harris and his wife, Jacquie; Christine Scaramuzzo and her husband, Tony; and Michael Harris and his husband, Cyril. In addition to her husband Joseph, she was predeceased by her parents and brother, John Harris. She has many loved nieces and nephews.
Mona's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday November 22nd, at Cornell Memorial Home in Danbury from 10AM to 12PM. A memorial service will follow visitation at Noon. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery.
