George H. Althof

George H. Althof, age 98, of Erie passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital. Born in Erie on November 3, 1926, he was the son of the late Charles and Gertrude (Tate) Althof.
George was a licensed master plumber and the owner of George H. Althof Plumbing for many years before retirement. He belonged to the Perry-Keystone F. & A. M. Lodge #392, the Scottish Rite, Valley of Erie, Zem Zem Shrine, Erepa Groto, and was a life member of the Erie Yacht Club.
He was an avid boater who enjoyed boating and sailing in later years. George's passion was traveling. He was known as a person who seemed to be able to fix anything.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Peyton) Althof; a brother, William Althof; and three sisters, Vivian Williams, Charlotte Cunningham, and his twin, Geraldine Rusterholtz.
Survivors include Gayle who he lovingly shared the last thirty years of his life with; two sons, Edward Althof, wife Kathleen, and Roger Althof, wife Susie; five grandchildren, Emily Robertson, husband Andy, Ben Althof, wife Tiffany, Eric Althof, wife Ashley, Sara Monziel, husband Steve; and ten great grandchildren.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. at Greengarden Blvd. and are invited there for a service Monday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
