George Arida Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by East Haven Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. on Dec. 22, 2025.
George "Georgie" John Arida, Jr., born on August 24, 1953, in New Haven, Connecticut passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, at home, with his beloved daughter Heather by his side. George was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Arida and George Arida, his brother, Francis Pinto, and his son, Christopher Arida.

He is survived by his three children, whom he cherished deeply: Heather (Arida) Salato, Nicholas Arida, and Christopher Arida. Being a father was one of George's greatest joys, and his love for his children was unwavering and evident in everything he did.

George spent part of his youth living in California before returning home to West Haven, Connecticut, where he remained for the rest of his life-a true "Westie" through and through.

George was a man full of life, energy, and heart. He had an undeniable charisma and a playful, goofy sense of humor that brought smiles wherever he went. A lifelong lover of music, he could often be found tapping on any nearby surface-an echo of his younger years spent in drum corps where his rhythm and passion truly shined.

He trained as an EMT, always driven by a desire to help others, but found his lifelong calling on the open road. George loved his career driving "big rigs" across the country, embracing the freedom, adventure, and stories that came with the journey.

George also had a deep love for sports. From coaching football and sharing his passion with others to proudly cheering on the New York Yankees, sports were another way he connected with family, friends, and community.

George cherished life's simple pleasures: time with family and friends, the beach, anything involving boats or cars, traveling, animals, and good food. He was the kind of person who would help anyone in need, no questions asked-a true testament to his generous and caring spirit.

George will be missed fiercely by all who knew and loved him. His laughter, music, kindness, and larger-than-life presence will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends. Rest easy, Dad. I love you endlessly. Always, your Booper.

Calling hours for George will be held on Saturday December 27, 2025 from 11am-1pm at East Haven Memorial Funeral Home 425 Main ST East Haven, CT 06512. There will be a parlor service at 1230 at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

I am so very sorry and sad to hear of George's passing. I worked with George at Baran Institute of Technology when he was a CDL Instructor there. He was a joy to work with. He was so friendly and had a fun loving personality that was infectious. Always smiling and making jokes. My sincere condolences to all George's Family and Friends. May George Rest In Peace. God Bless Lori "Baran" Paul
