George Badgio Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sullivan Funeral Home - Hanson on Mar. 30, 2026.
George W. Badgio, long time Hanson resident, died at home on March 27, 2026, the day after his 97th birthday, surrounded by his family and his loving wife, Bette Reynolds Badgio.

Born in Brockton, Mass to his Albanian parents William and Olga, George was the eldest of six siblings. He spoke Albanian until he went to first grade where he learned English. He graduated from Brockton High School in 1947, and served in the Army in Germany during the Korean War. When he came home, he worked as the dock supervisor at Quinn Freight Lines, and met his wife-to-be. Upon his father's death in 1960, George ran his family trucking company, William Badgio and Sons, with his two brothers, Louie and Teddy until he retired.

Married in 1955, he and Bette moved to Hanson in 1963 where they raised their five children, and have lived ever since. George had many interests, could repair anything, and was a passionate collector of all things, but what he valued most was family. He was the epitome of stability and dependability, and many depended on him.

George is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Bette Badgio; his five children Sue Caldwell and her husband Bruce, Peter Badgio and his wife Melissa, Mike Badgio and his companion Karen Martell, Jimmy Badgio, Steve Badgio and his wife Sherri; six grandchildren Amy Badgio and her husband Dave Harris, Jason Badgio, Daniel Badgio, Rebecca (Badgio) Dolan and her husband Jason Dolan, Eli Badgio and his fiancé Zee Zeng, and Alyssa Badgio; six great-grandchildren, Ava Harris, Natalie Harris, Chayse Dolan, Everett Dolan, Aidan Badgio, and Jaxon Dolan; numerous nephews and nieces; and countless loved ones.

Visitation will be held at the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 2 Maquan Street, Corner Route 14&58, Hanson, on Monday, April 6th from 12-3 PM. Graveside service to follow at Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson.

In lieu of flowers, donations in George's name can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
