George B. Barnes, age 71, of White Oak, passed away peacefully, on February 16, 2023. He was born on July 9, 1951 in McKeesport, the son of William and Alice (Ferry) Barnes.
After being graduated from West Mifflin North High School, George served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1974. Then he resumed his employment at Westinghouse which later became Bombardier, where he retired as a Lead Manufacturing Technician after working there 46 years. George was a talented musician, owning and playing over 20 guitars, and travelling with the Gospel group Frontline, for which he wrote and recorded several songs. He will be missed, as well for the times when he and Don lead the family through singing all the songs we knew.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nana Donette (Rynkiewich) Barnes, his two daughters; Jodi Lee (Jonathan) Cottom and Lori Joy (Martin) Bell; grandchildren, Jenna, Jayden, and Marty Jr.; brother, William (Carol) Barnes; sister-in-law, Anita Barnes. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George was also preceded in death by his sister Alice Aldrich and Bud Aldrich; brother, David S. Barnes.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, at 10 a.m., in the funeral home chapel. Rev., Dr. Michael A. Rynkiewich will be the celebrant. Committal prayers, military honors, and burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery.
