LCDR George R (Bob) Bartleson, a distinguished Naval officer and devoted family man, peacefully passed away on June 21, 2024 after bravely battling a lengthy illness. He was born in Seattle, Washington on November 6, 1942.
Throughout his life, LCDR Bartleson pursued academic excellence and served his country with honor. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture from the University of Washington in 1967. While still studying for his Bachelor's degree his love for his country and his dedication to service led him to join the Aviation Reserve Officers candidate program in 1966. After receiving his degree he was Commissioned as an Ensign Naval Officer in Pensacola, Florida in August 1967. A testament to his commitment to continuous learning and advancement, he furthered his education by obtaining a Masters of Science in SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT from the University of Southern California while serving at NAS Moffett Field in the patrol community in 1980.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, George, lovingly known by family and friends as "Bob", found true joy and fulfillment in his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Susan Wolf of Weiner Arkansas, daughter Eliece Horton and son-in-law Eric, son Aaron and daughter-in-law Megan. His legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren Skye and Brock Horton, and Fischer Bartleson.
"Bob" Bartleson will be fondly remembered for his unwavering dedication to duty, his love for God, his family, his Country, and for the lasting impact he made on all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace in the everlasting Arms of our Merciful and Loving Father.
