George Thomas Beckner was born on October 22, 1947, in Morgantown and was peacefully called home by his Lord and Savior on September 21, 2025, after a brief illness at the age of 77. He was the son of John and Iva Roderick Beckner.

George married his beloved wife, Gloria Jean Carter Beckner, 54 years ago. Gloria received her wings on December 24, 2021.

George worked for 35 years at the WVU Facilities Plant in Morgantown, WV. After retirement, he spent his time loving and caring for his wife and family.

He enjoyed going to the Monongalia County Senior Center in Morgantown, where he played pool with his friends and socialized over lunch.

George was a faithful servant of his Lord and Savior and loved the Lord with all his heart.

He was always wearing a huge smile and had a laugh that was contagious.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Iva Beckner, his beloved wife, Gloria, and five brothers: Bill, Harry, Bob, Roger, and David; two sisters, Shirley McDonald and Linda Hardy. He was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Vance and Edith Carter, and a niece, Jennifer Raymond.

George is survived by his brothers, John (Rhonda) Beckner and Ronald (Sue) Beckner; sisters-in-law, Nora (Gary) Raymond and Brenda (Pete) Simpson, plus many nieces and nephews that he loved with all his heart.

He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Debra Lynn Copenhaver and his grandchildren, Thomas (Emma) Copenhaver from Maryland and Kevin John (Gabriella) Copenhaver from Ohio, plus his beautiful great-grandchildren, Serenity and Dakota Copenhaver .

Family and friends will gather at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home on Friday, September 26 from 10 AM until time of services at Noon with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. George will rest with his beloved Gloria at the East Oak Grove Cemetery. Heaven has gained a special angel.
