MASSENA – George A. Brouse, 72, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 24, 2025 at Champlain Valley Physician's Hospital, after a lengthy illness.

George was born in Massena on July 5, 1953, the son of the late Howard A. and Anna Mae (MacPherson) Brouse and was a graduate of Massena Central School. Following his graduation, he started working for his father as a truck driver in their moving business, HA Brouse Van and Storage and Mayflower. George was a lifelong member of the Emmanuel Congregational United Church of Christ. For 27 years, George also gave a tireless amount of time to his community as a member of the Massena Volunteer Fire Department as a fireman, line officer, and more recently fire police.

George is survived by his stepson, Chad Sullivan; his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Joseph Neault of Brasher Falls; his sister-in-law, Jeannine Miller of Massena; his nieces, Melissa Dunkelberg of Massena and Danielle Lightbown of Trumansburg, New York; his nephew, Gregory Brouse; and 4 great nieces and 4 great nephews.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Howard B. Brouse on September 29, 2018; and a nephew, Christopher J. Neault on September 28, 2022.

Friends may call on Tuesday, September 30th at the Emmanuel Congregational United Church of Christ beginning at 1:00 PM followed by a service at 2:00 PM. Burial with fireman's honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Massena.

In lieu of flowers those wishing may consider memorial contributions to be made in his memory to the Massena Volunteer Fire Department or the Emmanuel Congregational United Church of Christ.
