George Callahan Obituary
George "Kelly" Robert Callahan, 85, passed away peacefully at home November 30, 2023. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on March 7, 1938 to the late Edward Paul and Anna (Habig) Callahan and moved to Akron as a teen.
George was a North High School graduate and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company with 37 years of service and was a former member of St. Vincent Church. He was also a member of the Greater Akron Aquarium Society and The Foresters. He will be deeply missed.
Preceded in death by his siblings, Kathleen, Mary, Jack, Delores, Claire and Paul "Buzz", he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia; children, Alisa (Tom) Piccirilli, Christopher (Bobbie) Callahan, Mary (Frank) Genovese, Kevin (Christina) Callahan and Kara (Andrew) Klein; grandchildren, Gabriella, Gina, Mercedez (Travis), Christopher (Abbie), Mckienze, Anna (Jaymen), Julia, Roman, Isabella, Maren, Aidan, Kaelen, Rowan and Teagen; and great-grandchildren, Aniston, Joyner and Bianca.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 750 S. Main St., Akron, OH 44311 with Fr. Christopher Zerucha officiating. Visitation will be at the church a half-hour prior to mass, from 9:30 – 10 a.m. Private burial will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
