George J. Cappiello, Jr., 82 years old of Bellerose Village, NY died on Wednesday, February 11th, 2026.

George was born on November 5th, 1943 to George Sr. and Claire Cappiello. He attended Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn on a scholarship where he excelled in academics and found his talent and passion for running. After high school, George went on to Manhattan College and Villanova Law School. He and his partner eventually took over a law practice and started Phillips & Cappiello, a firm that represented the National Maritime Union, and a job that took him all over the world.

He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Susan, his children, Koren (Dan), Danny (Edie) and Matthew (Heather), and his three grandchildren, Daniel, Jack and Sophia.

George was known for his dry sense of humor, love of dark chocolate and the music of Roy Orbison, running miles around his hometown and, most importantly, his generous nature. He was grateful for the opportunities afforded him in life and never hesitated to help others out, donating to charities and always offering up his time and knowledge.

George will be waked at Dalton Funeral Home in Floral Park on Monday, February 16th from 1pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Funeral services will held at Our Lady of Victory Church on Tuesday, February 17th at 10:30 am.

He will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Bishop Loughlin High School.
