George H. Claridy, son of Verdlee and Sam Claridy, was born on August 1, 1936 in Live Oak, Florida has peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on March 13th, 2024 surround by the love of his family.
George is survived by his wife of 67 ½ years, Betty Jean Claridy; his children Janice Claridy, Shelia Fountain, Violet Smith, Anthony Claridy and Camilla Claridy; brother, Eugene Claridy, a host of cousins, grandchildren, and best friend, Carl Lewis.
George's passions in life were his family and being of service to others. George proudly served our country and defended the country during war. George retired from the United States Army after serving 23 ½ in the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Outside of his military service, George really enjoyed working with his hands to make life better for his family, friends and customers. It was not uncommon to find George under a car with one of his grandkids repairing something; working in the yard with his
wife, Betty; supporting neighbors with house repairs and even performing the role of security officer at the local college. George's work ethic was unquestionable and his heart was big! He also enjoyed fellowship with his brothers.
George's legacy will live on through everyone he impacted. We celebrate his legacy together, and may he rest in peace.
