Retired Air Force Sergeant George Franklin Crane of Lavonia peacefully passed away September 21, 2025 at the age of 87.

Mr. Crane served 22 years in the US Air Force from May 1956 to August 1978. His medals include the Air Force Commendation medal, Vietnam Service medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Good Conduct medal, Air Force Longevity medal. He served in Greece, Germany, Thailand, and Japan. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked as a long haul truck driver for 22 years and retired in February 2000.

Mr. Crane was preceded in death by his parents, Solomon and Dora Harris Crane of Pascagoula Mississippi, was the last surviving child of 12, 6 boys and 6 girls, and by his wife Refina Walters Crane.

He is survived by three sons, Allen "Nick" Crane of Denver, Colorado, Gene Crane of Greenville, South Carolina, David Crane of Townville, South Carolina; seven daughters, Diana Crane of Naples, Florida, Shan Hammond of Greenville, South Carolina, Heather Palmer and Stephanie Clinkscale of Lavonia, Georgia, Nicole Browning of Anderson, South Carolina, Natalie Simpson of Franklin, North Carolina and Gabby Williams of Commerce Georgia; twenty-two grandchildren and many great grandchildren all of whom he cherished; his faithful companion Polly.

We celebrate the life of our Dad, whose love guidance and laughter shaped our lives in countless ways!

Mr. George "Frank" Crane's wishes were to be cremated and interned with his wife, Refina Crane at Rock Springs Baptist Church at which point there will be a celebration of life with family and friends.

Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. George "Frank" Crane.
