George D. “Danny” King of Birch Run, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital in Flint, Michigan. He was 71 years old. George Daniel King was born on May 30, 1954, in Miami, Florida, to the late Malcolm Montrose and Doris Jean (Carter) King Jr. He grew up in Naples, Florida, where he also attended and graduated from Naples High School. In 1986, Danny and the family moved to Michigan, making Davison their home. He was married to Denice Gumerson and their union brought four children: Cristine, Jenny, Stephen, and Kevin. While on a blind date, he met the love of his life, Paula Lynn (Stephens) Winchester. They dated, fell in love, and united in marriage on April 30, 2010; she survives him. Danny was employed as a drywaller/finisher with SHS and the Michigan Carpenters’ Union for over 40 years, where he helped build Rite Aid Pharmacy’s, Hospitals, Malls, El Charritos, and various other projects throughout the state. Hard working with a meticulous eye for detail, he became known as “Dan Dan the drywall man” throughout his profession. The role he loved and cherished the most was to be a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. When he wasn’t spending time with family, Danny enjoyed playing chess with his brother from Tennessee, passing the tradition down to his two grandchildren, Spencer and Hannah. Danny also enjoyed playing three-handed Euchre, other card games, and Bingo with his neighbors, NEVER forgetting the POPCORN. He also loved shopping, especially at Sams Club, garage sales, Cracker Barrel Restaurant, and drinking Crown Royal. Danny will forever be remembered for his loving and generous heart, for selflessly putting others before himself, for his wonderful sense of humor and ability to joke with all people, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.

Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Paula King of Birch Run; seven children: Cristine King of Flint; Shantel (Dennis) Revard of Frankenmuth; Jenny (Gregory) McLaughlin of Flint; Kelsa (Mike) Dickey of AZ; Trista Winchester of Birch Run; Stephen King of Flint; Kevin King of Naples, FL; 11 grandchildren: Alexandra King, Kaelyn Revard, Zechariah McLaughlin, Hannah McLaughlin, Makaylah McLaughlin, Alex Dickey, Carmen Dickey, Shyler Gilbert, McKinley Gilbert, Spencer King, and Lukas King; two brothers and one sister: Malcolm Montrose (Susan) King III, David Reid (Millie) King, Grace Ann (Michael) O’Conner. Also surviving are countless nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm Montrose King Jr. and Doris Jean King; a best friend, Mark Mackey.

Honoring Danny’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society.
