George Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home on Jan. 25, 2026.
George K. Davis, 66, of Shelocta, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 23, 2026. Raised in Clymer, George was a man known for his strength, his stories, and a heart far bigger than he ever let on at first glance. George loved the simple, meaningful things in life. He could often be found hunting deer, playing cards with friends, or cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers. He especially enjoyed time spent with his beloved grand-puppies and kitties, who were a constant source of joy. Whether you knew him for a lifetime or had just met him, George always had a story to tell and a way of making you feel like an old friend. He was tough on the outside but deeply loving on the inside-a man who showed his care through loyalty, humor, and quiet acts of kindness. His life was defined by connection: lifelong friends, new friendships formed easily, and a deep devotion to family. Over the years, George proudly became a second father to many of his daughter's friends, welcoming them as his own and loving them like family. George was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Barbara Mock Davis; his mother, Elizabeth Treese Davis; his father, George Cressly; brothers Carl Davis and Blair Treese; half-brother Mike Cressly; sister Frances Sinclair; sister-in-law Debbie Mock; brothers-in-law Chet Mock and Gary Kerley; and nephews Kenny Wirick and Mike Fennel. He is survived by his loving daughter Kelly Mottorn and son-in-law Josh, with whom he shared a home and many cherished years; his sister Carol Ann Wirick and her husband Ken; numerous nieces and nephews; and many "adopted" children who were blessed to call him family. He also leaves behind his adored grand-puppies Sensa, Dublin, and Kong, and grand-kitties Markaivia, Harrison, Radar, Philip, and Flooff, all of whom held a special place in his heart. A viewing will be held at Lefdhals Funeral Home in Indiana, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, January 31, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. No service will follow. In true George fashion, family and friends are encouraged to come casual and wear their favorite football team apparel or hunting gear and/or colors. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help cover expenses. George will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.
