Obituary published on Legacy.com by Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home on Jan. 9, 2026.
George T. Daw "Buddy" of Eldred died peacefully on January 8, 2026. He was 82 years old.

The son of William and Ethel Daw, he was born on April 26, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY.

Buddy was a dedicated and beloved member of the Delaware Valley High School community for many years, where he served as the grounds and maintenance supervisor until his retirement. His commitment to his work and his pride in the school was evident in everything he did. He was not just an employee; he was a cherished presence on the school grounds, always willing to lend a helping hand.

A true sports enthusiast, Buddy was an unwavering fan of the New York Mets, Jets, and Knicks. He was a regular fixture at Delaware Valley High School sporting events, always in the stands cheering on the students, supporting their efforts with enthusiasm and heart. His love for sports extended beyond just watching-Buddy enjoyed the camaraderie of the games and could often be found engaging in friendly competition. One of his favorite pastimes was playing billiards, where his skill and passion for the game were always on full display.

Buddy's family was his world. He was a devoted grandfather, known for his ability to make children feel loved and special. His wife, Rita, fondly referred to him as the "baby whisperer" for his magical touch in calming even the most upset child. His deep affection for his family was felt by all who knew him, and his gentle nature, warm smile, and sense of humor will be missed by his loved ones and many friends.

In addition to his parents Buddy was predeceased in life by his three brothers and four sisters.

Beloved husband of Rita Daw. Devoted father of Michael Daw, Robert Daw, Roseann Daw (Joseph Benjamin) and William Daw (Nicole). Cherished grandfather of Matthew T. Terpening, Michael Daw (Ashley), Kyle Daw, Alexander Daw and Madison Daw. Great grandfather of Bailey, Adeline and Canaan. Dear brother of Rosalind Schroeder and James Daw (Daria). Buddy was a fond uncle and great uncle who will be missed.
