George D. Dawson

George D. Dawson, age 84, beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Louisville, OH went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 12, 2023. He was born October 16, 1938 to the late T. Elwood and A. Leona Dawson. He moved to Louisville as a child and was raised on the family farm. Along with being a lifelong farmer, George was retired from Sugardale Meats after 30 years. He also loved to garden and raised and sold sweet corn for many years. George never met a stranger. He always had a smile on his face and a friendly greeting. He was a member of the Dueber United Methodist Church, where he served as a head usher for many years and thoroughly enjoyed teaching and friendships from the Philadelphian Sunday School class.
George is survived by his loving wife of 61years, Sandra (Seith) Dawson; a daughter, Susan (Ken) Vaughan; two sons, Jeff (Sara) and Greg (Trish) Dawson; two brothers, Myron (Lillian) and Gene (Elaine) Dawson; nine grandchildren, Jacob, Jarrod, Jonah, Lauren, Emily, Shannon, Ben Wesley and Clayton; three great-grandchildren, Peyton, Judah and Vivienne. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Eileen Barrett.
Funeral services will be 11am Wednesday at the Shepherd's Hill Church, 7560 N. Nickleplate St, Louisville, OH 44641. Calling hours will be 6-8pm Tuesday evening at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville and 10-11am Wednesday morning at the church. George will be laid to rest in Beech Mennonite Cemetery, Louisville, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dueber United Methodist Church or Shepherd's Hill Church.
