George Francis Doherty, of Jennings LA, passed away on December 2, 2025.
George was born in 1947 to Daniel Wallace Doherty and Marion Guidry Doherty in Jennings. He had fond memories of growing up in Jennings, playing in the wild spaces, and hanging out with his dog, Sam. Music was important to George. He was proud to have been the drum major of the Jennings High School Band his senior year and regaled listeners with stories of playing with The Glades and with The Boogie Kings before leaving for college. George was also proud of having been a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Texas.
He is survived by his children: Paige, Andy, and Meredith, and his five grandchildren; his sister, Marion Doherty Broussard, many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and -nephews.
We will miss the music he added to the world.
