George Michael Donatell

George M. Donatell,   70 years old of Newport, MN left this earth suddenly and unexpectedly on January 5th, 2024.   George is preceded in death by father Gene Donatell. Survived by loving wife of 46 years, Vicky; sons, Brian (Anne), David (Melissa), Douglas (Asia); daughter, Lisa (Tony); 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; mom, Evie; sister Cathy (Dick); brother, John (Gwaynel); nieces, nephews and many other loving relatives and friends.   George was born in St. Paul,  MN to Gene  and Evie Donatell. He attended Park High School before moving into the workforce.  As a young man he started his career working for Garelicks, then moving onto Northern State Power (NSP), now excel energy where he met a number of wonderful friends.    George married the love of his life Vicky in 1977 and they went on to have four amazing children. George enjoyed bringing his kids on outdoor adventures at a young age.  This built the bonds over time and created many  memories. The entire family enjoyed spending time together whether it was at a holiday, birthday party  or a random gathering to light up the grill. He passed on his love of grilling to all his kids. George and family are all avid MN Wild fans, George and Vicky watched every game together.    George also greatly enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and friends.  This past fall he got a beautiful buck while hunting with his sons.    When George was promoted from Dad to Papa he shined even more. He loved every second with each of his 11 grandchildren, and great grandson making memories, being there for every event he could. Making each one feel special.  He loved them with all his heart. Just as we loved him, and he will be greatly missed.    A memorial gathering for George will be held on Sunday, January 14th from 11am-1pm at Kok Funeral Home (1201 Portland Avenue, St. Paul Park, MN 55071)
