Stephen (Steve) Stone Reynolds, age 82, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on October 23, 2025. Steve was a cherished and deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Samanther; his adored children Jeffrey (Susan), Nicholas, Marion, Edina, Agira (Stephen), Amanye, and Son (Nguyen); his beloved grandchildren Mason, Marit, Kirsten (Chad), Anthony, Minh, Phuong, Steven; his dear Ugandan family, and countless other loved ones.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Dorothy Reynolds; his brother, Gary Reynolds; his first wife, Barbara Faricy Reynolds; and his grandson, Joshua Lerom.

Born on April 7, 1943, Steve grew up in Edina, Minnesota, where, as a young boy, he dreamed of becoming a cowboy and riding horses. By his teenage years, his interests had shifted to engines and speed—he built a sports car from scratch between 1959 and 1961 and graduated from Edina High School soon after.

From 1967 to 1970, Steve proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Sergeant E-5. His time in the Marines gave him the discipline and sense of purpose that would guide him through every chapter of his life.

After his service, Steve returned to the University of Minnesota, where he earned his B.A. in Political Science in 1972. He loved to tell the story of how his father, skeptical of his early dreams to race cars or design them, told him instead to “go to the good ’ol U of M and learn something worthwhile.” Steve did just that—and then some.

Over the next several decades, Steve built a rich and varied career. He worked his way from loan officer to bank president, later owning Motorsports Miniatures, a Minneapolis hobby store that reflected his lifelong love of cars. After selling the store, Steve endeavored in several sales positions and eventually retired in 2008. In his later years, Steve enjoyed tirelessly researching his family history and adding his discoveries to Ancestry.com; attending all of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events; boating in his Sea-Doo jet boat; cruising in his 1950 Cadillac; nurturing his green thumb by cultivating a wide variety of plants in his cherished garden—from tulips and roses to a cactus that often caught the attention of passersby; indulging his love of history by spending many evenings reading about various wars; and, above all, spending time with his family.

He will be remembered for his generosity, his stories, his quiet strength, and the way he made everyone around him feel valued and seen.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held in Spring 2026 and will be updated by the family when available.
