In Loving Memory of David J. Reynolds Sr.
David J. Reynolds Sr. passed away surrounded by his family, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, dedication, and love. Born on November 2, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan, David grew into a hardworking and principled man whose life reflected integrity and pride in every role he held.
A highly respected Master Machinist in aerospace gearing, David spent decades perfecting his craft at Reef Gear/VCST and Chardam Gear. Known for his precision, loyalty, and commitment to excellence, he earned deep respect from coworkers and friends throughout the industry.
David shared a lifelong marriage with his beloved wife, Darla A. Reynolds, building a life grounded in loyalty, laughter, and unwavering support. Their love story began in middle school and grew into a partnership that endured for nearly fifty years. Though he passed only days before their 50th wedding anniversary, the life they shared speaks to a bond far greater than any date on a calendar. Their love was steady, lifelong, and truly extraordinary. David showed Darla what true love meant and taught her the importance of living life and living it with love, patience, and gentleness-lessons she will carry with her always.
He was a devoted father to David J. Reynolds Jr., Paul L. Reynolds, and Christie M. Reynolds, and a loving grandfather to David J. Reynolds III, Cameron T. Reynolds, and Theodore G. Reynolds. His family was the center of his world.
He is survived by his siblings Linda E. Reynolds, Patricia A. Reynolds, Harry G. Reynolds (wife Noel), Margaret F. Maxie, and James A. Reynolds.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Harry G. Reynolds and Joyce E. (Seivertson) Reynolds.
David was a passionate Detroit sports fan, cheering on the Tigers, Lions, Pistons, and Red Wings. He loved BBQ and grilling, and was an avid racing enthusiast, following NASCAR, Indy, Formula 1, and the local racing scene at the Mount Clemens race track. He enjoyed reading books and had cherished memories of boating with his parents during his younger years. David's lifelong love of animals was evident to everyone who knew him. He is also survived by his loyal dog, Dexter, and his beloved cats, Shiba and Shadow, who remained faithfully by his side. He was preceded in passing by his cherished macaws Tommy and Sinbad, his dogs Shane, Bossit, and Sandy, and his cat Sky, all of whom brought him great joy throughout his life
Music played a major role in David's life. He attended decades of concerts, especially loving John Lennon, The Beatles, The Who, Tool, Radiohead, and Sigur Rós. His favorite song was "Woman" by John Lennon, a piece he carried close to his heart and would dedicate to his wife.
David cherished the life he shared with his wife, Darla, whose love and companionship were the steady foundation of his days. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren, and he held deep affection for his siblings-even as his night-shift work kept him living a quieter, more private life. Though soft-spoken and often reserved, David's gentle humor, warm presence, and steady kindness touched everyone who knew him.
