Roy A. Newell

It is with great sadness that the family of Roy Andrew Newell, age 64, of Algonac, Michigan, announces his passing on November 11, 2025. Roy passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.
Roy was born on November 15, 1960. He was the loving husband of Gail Lynne Newell and the proud father of Mike Newell (wife Jennifer), Stephanie Balcom (husband Carl), and Shannon Resowski (husband Joe). He was grandfather to Easton, Paislee, Brooklyn, Blair, and Andrew, all of whom he loved dearly. Roy is survived by his sisters, and several nieces and nephews. He was the owner of beautiful Chesapeake Bay Retrievers throughout his life, the most recent being his sweet boy, Boomer.
Roy was a graduate of Berkley High School in Berkley, Michigan, Class of 1978. He went on to have a long and successful career as a member of the Carpenters and Millwright Union Local 1234, where he was known for his exceptional skill, strong work ethic, and dedication to his trade.
Roy had a deep passion for the outdoors and found great joy in nature. He loved spending time in the woods and on the water, with duck and deer hunting being among his favorite pastimes. Roy also cherished his time fishing for walleye on the St. Clair River, where he found peace and fulfillment surrounded by friends, fish, and family.
Roy will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and the unwavering love he had for his family. His legacy of hard work, integrity, and appreciation for life's simple pleasures will live on in all who knew and loved him.
Roy's Celebration of Life will be held on November 22nd, 2025 at one of his favorite establishments, Colony Bowl in Algonac, MI. Casual attire requested. If you would like to wear purple - Roy's favorite color or camo, in honor of him.

Fellowship begins at 2:00pm until 5:00pm, with a service at 2:30pm, and a shared meal starting at 3pm.
