George Albert Fenimore, 93, entered into rest on March 5, 2024.
George was born on February 13, 1931, in Homeville, Pennsylvania to the late William Thompson Fenimore, Sr. and Emily Leona Fenimore. As a child, he moved with his family to Cherry Hill, New Jersey, then to Alexandria, Virginia where he grew up. There, he attended and graduated from Mount Vernon High School where he met many lifelong friends and went on to marry Dolores “Dee Dee” Fenimore. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served in Tripoli during the Korean War as a radio mechanic. Following his return to the states, he was medically discharged in 1957. George became a proud father in 1959 to a daughter, then to a son in 1963. He worked in home building as a superintendent until his retirement in 1986.
During his retirement, he moved to Front Royal, Virginia to a home he and his wife, Dee had built together over five years. They enjoyed life while traveling, volunteering at the hospital, and being active members of the United Methodist church until Dee’s passing in 2000.
In 2001, he met Betty Ann on a blind date, and they married later that year. They eventually headed for warmer climates and settled in Warner Robins, Georgia. They later moved to Summer’s Landing in Warner Robins. In 2021, he lost Betty Ann.
While at Summer’s Landing, after the death of his wife, he met Effie Cast. They developed a strong and loving relationship. At the age of 92, they became newlyweds in the summer of 2023. They enjoyed almost seven months of love, friendship, and companionship until he transitioned from life on earth to life in eternity.
George, or Pop Pop as he was lovingly known, was a loving man with a heart made for loving and caring for people. He logged over 2,000 hours of volunteering at the Houston Medical Center. He loved the Lord and loved his family and friends fiercely. He will leave a huge hole in our hearts and lives, but we rejoice in knowing we will be reunited with him in heaven. See you at breakfast, Pop!!
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wives, Dolores Fenimore and Betty Ann Fenimore, and grandchildren, Matthew Reynolds, Michelle Reynolds, and Emily Fenimore.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Effie A. Cast; children, Debbie Reynolds (Kevin), and Doug Fenimore (Margie); and grandchildren, Danielle Fenimore, Amber Fenimore, Hannah Fenimore, Georgia Fenimore, Lola Fenimore, and Ben Fenimore, as well as his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in love from his marriages to Betty Ann and Effie.
A memorial gathering will be Friday, March 8, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church.
