Robert Fenimore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory - Middletown on Jan. 10, 2026.
Robert Darlington "Bob" Fenimore, 85, of Middletown, Delaware, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and children, on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

Born in Wilmington on January 30, 1940, Bob was the son of the late Harvey C. Fenimore and Anne (Poteet) Fenimore. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Bob built a life rooted in service, steady hard work, and family. He was the owner of B&F Towing Co., along with his two brothers, Herbie & Henry, for more than 58 years, dedicating himself to building a respected, family-centered business known across the region. In the community and in life, Bob was the kind of man who quietly showed up-offering help, support, and his time to anyone who needed it.

Bob served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962. His service took him to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and to Okinawa, Japan, before returning to Camp Lejeune to complete his enlistment. After his military service, he returned home to begin his career and raise his family.

In 1989, Bob married Carol A. (Cicatelli), and together they shared a loving partnership filled with travel, family time, and deep devotion to their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They could often be found cheering them on at games, events, and activities. In later years, Bob most enjoyed the simple peace of being at home with Carol-opening their home for holidays and special occasions and creating memories that will be treasured for generations.

Bob will be remembered for his love of cars, his gentle and quiet nature, and the sincerity he extended to everyone he met. He preferred to stay out of the spotlight, taking pride in his work and in the continued success of the family business.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Roma Jadick; and his siblings, Harvey Fenimore, Frances Fenimore, Audrey Watt, J. Herbert Fenimore, Donald Fenimore, Roger Fenimore, and Henry Fenimore.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol A. (Cicatelli) Fenimore; his children, Steven R. Fenimore (Chrissy), David M. Fenimore (Marie), Michele Fenimore Profit (Mike), and Rob Jadick; his siblings, Phyllis Campbell, Ellen Harkness, Evelyn Callahan, and Randall Fenimore; his grandchildren, Christie, Caroline, and Robert; and his great-grandchildren, Kaylinn, Michael, Madelinn, and Gionni.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon. Interment will be held privately at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
