George Edward Flaccus, the third, died peacefully at the Hospice and Community Care Center in Rock Hill, SC on Dec. 29th, 2023, at the age of 64.
George is survived by his only child: Rose Moreau, a.k.a Sydney Flaccus, and sister: Louise Reese, a.k.a Weezie. He is preceded in death by both his mother, Helen Flaccus, and father, George Flaccus Jr., as well as his sister, Janet Flaccus, and brother, Bob Flaccus.
George was born on April 16th, 1959, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Helen and George Flaccus. He graduated from Washington and Jefferson and went on to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh with a Master's Degree in Information Science. He married Laura Mebs in 1991. The couple welcomed daughter, Sydney, into their home just a few years later in 1996. After moving to Belmont, NC, he began working for Securitas as a Security Guard.
His daughter remembers him as a kind and loving soul who was wholly committed to her care above all else. His daughter was the most precious person in his whole life. He dealt with unfortunate health problems that hindered his daily life activities, but he did his best to make the most of it. He created fond memories and deep connections with members from The Blake at Baxter Village.
George was passionate about gardening and often indulged in the care taking of his home garden, especially his herbs. When he was younger, he could be found on many occasions birdwatching as an avid nature admirer. He also had a fond bond with his two sweet and loving pittbulls he rescued and previous maltese and yorkie.
The funeral is scheduled for 2:00 PM on January 4th, 2024, at Palmetto Funeral Home in Fort Mill, SC.
