George D. Franko, age 87, passed away November 21, 2024, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve with his daughters at his side. George was the beloved husband of the late Violet M. Franko (nee Soltesz) and the proud father of Carrie (David) Green and Beth (Tim) D'Anna; grandfather of Rachael Milan (Jon), Jeffrey Green (Antonia), Nikki D'Anna (Connor), Danielle Eglar (Mitchell), and Zachary D'Anna; great-grandfather of Lorenzo, Lucas, Taylor, Giada, Nicollo, and Logan; brother of the late Frank and Clara.
George was the class President and Homecoming King for St. Benedictine's class of 1955. He married his high school sweetheart, Violet, in 1958 and they started their family a year later. George graduated from John Carroll University and pursued a career in Human Resources, retiring at the age of 59 after many years at Reliance Electric. George was an active parishioner of St. John of the Cross (St. Felicitas) where he was Treasurer of the Holy Name and served as lector for many years.
George liked playing softball and was instrumental in teaching his girls how to pitch. He and Violet were proud of their kids and grandkids as well. They happily attended their life events (communions, graduations, weddings, etc.) and could be seen cheering on the sidelines or in the stands at their baseball, soccer, softball, volleyball games or wrestling matches.
George has many fond memories of quality time spent with family and friends. His trips to Hilton Head with the family and golf getaways with the "golf group" will forever be treasured.
Private Burial was held at All Souls Cemetery.
