Obituary for George Baird Geldert
Beloved husband, father, brother, and friend
In loving memory of George Baird Geldert, 93, who passed away peacefully on January 2, 2024, surrounded by his devoted family. He was born on June 30, 1930, in Minneapolis, MN to the late George and Lilas Geldert. He graduated from Saint Louis Park High School in 1948. Upon graduation, George enlisted in the Marine Corps and fought in the Korean conflict from 1949 – 51 as a machine gunner with the 3/5 Marines. After his tour of duty, he returned to the US and married Marjorie Joyce Elofson on September 13, 1952. He and Joyce had five children: Annette, Daniel, DiAnn, Jody, and Lori. After their divorce, George married Esther "Kellie" Tieman on January 10, 1970, and become the loving father to Laura Rae.
After graduating from Dunwoody College of Technology, George enjoyed a 50-year career as a Regional District Manager in heating and cooling controls, retiring in 2002 at the age of 72.
George had a hilarious quick wit and a love of horses, big dogs, golf, football, sky diving, and all things Scottish. He and Kellie travelled extensively throughout the world to places such as Japan, Israel, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Alaska, Turkey, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Hungary, Netherlands, Germany, England, and Scotland. Throughout his global travels, he also included scuba diving wherever possible.
He was a devoted husband and father who always put his family first. George was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Ronald Gene Geldert. He is survived by his wife, Kellie and children Annette Geinosky, Daniel Geldert (Becky), Laura Prichard (Mark), DiAnn Beesch (Michael), Jody Hayword (Gordon), Lori Koontz (Keith), and 15 Grandchildren, 27 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren and Brother Daniel Geldert (Janet) He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Celebration of life memorial: will be held in June- date still to be determined.
