George W. Gruber, 95, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025 at Bent County Health Care Center in Las Animas, Colorado.

Center in Las Animas, Colorado. George was born July 15, 1929 in Ft. Lyon, Colorado to George and Edna Gruber. He graduated from Las Animas High School (where he was known as Buzzy) and enlisted in the Air Force on January 9, 1951. He was stationed in various bases and in 1952 was ordered to Germany. He was stationed in Germany until honorably discharged January 8, 1955.

George worked hard his entire life and was respected for his high-quality work. He owned Gruber Electric in Lamar, CO, worked at Ft. Lyon for eight years and ended his career as State Electrical Inspector.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Gruber; daughter, Joy Jones and her husband Dave; sons, John Gruber and Jay (Karen Moreno) Gruber; step-children, Dexter Buck, Le Ila McCleary and Lonye Buck; grandchildren, Levi, Laramie & Lucas Gruber, Melody Gruber, Elvis, Chris & Nic Cunningham, Kellie Davis Hall and DJ McCleary; great-grandchildren, Atticus and Baron Cunningham, Riley Cunningham, Eli and Adi McCleary, Josh and Rachel Hall. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Erma Burton and her husband Reid, and his former wife, Norma Lu Davis.

He loved his family and will be deeply missed.

Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Las Animas VFW hall; (318 2nd Street; Las Animas, CO 81054).
