George Hamilton Jr was born into this world in the Panama Canal Zone, where his father had worked for several years before relocating to
Miami, FL where much of his mother's family lived. In the years following, they again relocated to the Space Coast of Florida, where George lived & worked most his life. His father worked for Brevard County and taught George from a young age the value of hard work. George attended Cocoa High School (Class of '63) where he met his high school sweetheart, Suanna Bird. George worked hard and played hard in those high school years. Between having jobs, such as working for Brevard County, he found time to begin his lifelong hobbies of surfing and classic car ownership. Also during these years, George found an interest that would stay with him until his passing.Gator Football.as he maintained season tickets for almost 40 years. Professionally, George began his career at Ford Motor Credit in the Orlando/Ocala markets. During this time, George became the father of Hollis Hamilton & George Hamilton III. George reconnected with high-school sweetheart, Suanna, in the late 1970's and the two were married in 1979. This also brought another child into George's life, Bill Reeves. Now with 3 kids, George & Sue began their life together. George left Ford Motor Credit and began working at the Kennedy Space Center. As a Configuration Management Analyst, he spent 20 years working on the Shuttle orbiters. George and Sue lived primarily in the Cocoa, FL area during their 45 years of marriage with occasional weekends away at his family's beloved property in the Ocala National Forest. After retiring, George and Sue spent time traveling, visiting car shows (with his dad's 1966 Ford F-150), surfing, dining with friends, joining the Elks Club and staying an avid sports fan. But above all, his family and his faith were the cornerstones of George's life. George loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He came to a personal relationship with Christ as a young adult, and his Christian faith undergirded everything he did. He went on to become an ordained deacon and a member of First Baptist Church, Merritt Island where he and Suanna attended until his death. George was subtle in how he lived out his faith but it permeated everything he did in life. He left a legacy of faith and family that will be carried on for generations.
