With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George Timothy "Tim" Herron, age 84, of Jonesboro, Georgia, who left this world peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025. Born in Atlanta on April 24, 1941, Tim was the beloved son of Lillian Jones and James Robert Herron. He was a proud Marine, a hardworking glazier by trade, and a true entrepreneur at heart-building a life full of grit, grace, and a whole lot of character. Tim wasn't just a man who worked with glass; he built things with his hands and his heart, including several businesses and a close-knit family and friends who will carry on his legacy. He was a fixture in his yellow Modern Glass shirt-whether he was heading to a job site, working around the house, or just out for a drive to go play at the machines. And when he did drive, it was almost always with the windows down and the radio off, listening to the sound of the wind like it was a song only he understood. That's just who he was-simple, steady, and quietly reflective. Tim was a man who believed deeply in grace. He lived his faith not with loud words but with quiet integrity. His life echoed the truth of Romans 3:10: "There is no one righteous, not even one." Tim never claimed to be perfect; he didn't pretend to have all the answers. He just tried to do right by others, trusted in God's mercy, and leaned on his faith through every season of life. He believed that in our weakness, God's strength is made known-and he lived that out with humility, forgiveness, and a steady heart. He is now reunited with his cherished wife, Marge Herron; his son, Steve Herron; his stepchildren, Bob Bennett and Rhonda Hill; and his sister, Jane Minnix. We take comfort in knowing they are all together again. Tim is survived by his devoted daughter, Lacee Crowe, and her husband, Donnie, who were a constant source of love and care throughout his years. He leaves behind two grandchildren he absolutely adored-Cohen and Parker Crowe-who brought him so much pride and joy. The brightest smiles Tim ever had came from seeing those boys. He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters, Gail Holiday and Jackie Herron, and by grandchildren Anzley, Ryan, Timothy, Zachery, and Paris. Uncle Tim was a favorite to many nieces and nephews and a loyal friend to more than a few who considered him family. Though our hearts ache, we are grateful for the years, the memories, and the love. Tim was deeply loved-and always will be. A memorial service to celebrate Tim's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2nd, at Ford-Stewart Funeral Home in Jonesboro. He will be laid to rest with military honors at the Georgia National Cemetery on Monday, August 4th, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tim's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital-a cause close to his heart. Contributions can be made online at www.stjude.org/donate, by phone at (800) 805-5856, or by mail to ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
