George Hession Obituary

George P. Hession, 82, of Palm Bay, FL, formerly of North Attleboro and Sharon, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI. He was the beloved husband of Priscilla E. (Loke) Hession, to whom he was wed on April 20, 1969.

Born in Boston, MA on January 23, 1943, he was the loving son of the late Thomas J. Hession and Helen G. (Ford) Hession. George grew up in Dorchester and Hyde Park, graduating from Hyde Park High School.

George served his country proudly in the Massachusetts Army National Guard during the Vietnam War era for eight years. He went on to a distinguished 25-year career with the Boston Fire Department, earning the rank of Lieutenant. In addition to his work as a firefighter, he owned and operated the family house painting business H and H House painting, originally started by his father Thomas and then over time sharing the business with his former firefighter coworker and best friend, Lawrence Healy.

A man of strong Catholic faith, George was a longtime communicant of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in North Attleboro and a Third Degree Knight with Council #11690 of the Saint Mary's Knights of Columbus in Norton. He was also a member of American Legion Post #106 in Sharon.

George had a deep love of travel and adventure, sharing many memorable trips with Priscilla to Portugal, Alaska, Hawaii, Aruba, New Hampshire for the fall foliage, their timeshare in Cocoa Beach, FL, and most of all to Ireland - a country that held a special place in his heart and where he proudly became a dual citizen.

At home, George loved birdwatching and could always be counted on to keep the feeders full. He adored his loyal service dog, Tucker. Above all, he will be remembered as a consummate gentleman and devoted family man who worked tirelessly to provide for those he loved. His wife, children, and grandchildren were truly his world.

In addition to his devoted wife, Priscilla, George is survived by his children: Priscilla K. Willard and her husband Keith of Palm Bay, FL, and Timothy P. Hession and his wife Alicia of Attleboro. He leaves three cherished granddaughters: Emma Willard, Sophia Willard, and Isabella Willard, all of Palm Bay, FL. He was the dear brother of Thomas R. Hession and his wife Anna of Weymouth, and Kevin P. Hession and his wife Muriel of Rockland.
