George Dennis Hicks, 71, of Orange, TX has passed away.
George was born on July 15, 1952, to George and Laura Hicks and grew up in Hackberry, LA. George enjoyed watching LSU ballgames and being around friends and family the most. He worked for Dupont for 33 years and served as a Cameron Parish Sherrif's Deputy for 7 years. He will always be remembered for his kindness and having a gentle soul.
Those left to cherish his memory are his 3 stepchildren, Wade Conner, Darrel Conner, and Spencer Conner; 9 siblings, Terry Hicks, Anthony Hicks, Gordie Hicks, Raymond Hicks, Martha Welch, Tammy Welch, Laura Heckler, Frances Little, and Teresa Nunez 15 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren and his pet bird Hannah.
George is preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Connie Hicks; parents, George and Laura Hicks; and Willard Conner, Edward Conner and Nadine Conner.
Pallbearers include: Terry, Gordie, Anthony, and Raymond Hicks, Mike Welch, John and Jamie Heckler, and Keithen Nunez.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 16th, 2023, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Hackberry, LA. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 9:30 PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM as well as a Cursillo rosary at 7:30 PM on Friday, September 15th, 2023, at St. Peter's Catholic Church Hall. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the time of services. Burial will be at Hackberry Community Cemetery under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Fr. Arvind Minz H.G.N will officiate services.
