On August 31, 2025, the Klarich family lost a legend. George Raymond Klarich, 85, of Manistique, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family.

Born September 13, 1939, in Manistique, George was the son of Anthony and Roxie (Brock) Klarich. A lifelong resident of the area, he graduated from Manistique High School and proudly served in the National Guard.

On July 10, 1965, George married the love of his life, Sandra (Saffer) Klarich, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Their marriage of 60 years was a true example of love and devotion. George worked as a heavy equipment operator for Mead in the Gulliver woodyard from 1971 until his retirement in 1998. He was known as a man of few words, but when he spoke, it mattered. His family could always count on him-whether to fix something, share wisdom, or lend a steady hand. George's life always revolved around his family.

He always enjoyed working on cars and tinkering in the garage, and his two sons followed in his footsteps. One of George's proud accomplishments was restoring a 1970 Torino GT and a 1951 Ford pickup with his son Toby. Besides working on vehicles and fixing things he enjoyed spending time at camp. His four grandsons were his pride and joy, and fairly often you could find him cheering them on at local sporting events. He also enjoyed watching the Red Wings, Lions, and Tigers in his free time.

George is survived by his wife, Sandra Klarich of Manistique; children, Jeff (Joan Thompson) Klarich, Jani (Korie) Gould, and Toby (Kathie) Klarich; brothers Tom (Marsha) Klarich and Dude Klarich; sister Marge (Bob) Hale; and his four beloved grandsons Nick, Jarrett, Owen, and Lucas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Roxie Klarich; parents-in-law, Norman and Janet Saffer; and his brother John, and sister-in-law Linda Klarich.

A celebration of life for George will be held at the Moose Lodge on September 6, 2025, 1PM. All family and friends are invited.

Memorial donations may be made to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospice or the Manistique Senior Citizen Center.

Fausett Family Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
