Survived by: His wife Sandy of 47 years, the love of his life. Daughter: Verna Lynn (Craig) Johansson,Son: George Jr.: Cherished granddaughters Cassandra and Ruby. Loving brother Michael Konn, and Richard Konn: Mother and Father in-laws Verna and Ed Tomas, Brother in-laws Michael (Becky) Pippenger and Ed (Maggie) Johnson. Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded by: Parents: George and Ruth Konn: Sister Pamela: Grandparents Fred and Henrietta Brockmann: Father in-laws James Brandt and Rodney Pippenger.
George graduated from Naperville Community High School in 1968. He was also a proud member of the Automobile Mechanics Union 701. He began his career at Egizio Chevrolet in 1969 which became Gerald Oldsmobile in 1981 and continued his career until his retirement.
George and Sandy enjoyed traveling every summer to St. Ignace, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula for relaxation.
Sandy and her children would like to express their appreciation to all the caring compassionate friends, family, and neighbors that supported their loved one through his 15 month long journey.
A visitation for George will be held on Friday, May 17th, 2024 from 2 until 8 p.m.at the Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Homes & Crematory, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville, IL. A chapel service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. followed by interment at Naperville Cemetery.

Posting this now as I just learned of George´s passing. I came to know George while working alongside him at Gerald Olds. He, along with Stu and Harry, were the shop elders. We all respected and looked up to them. George was the Diesel Whisperer. He was a great mentor and friend to me during the years we worked together and after; guiding me in the repair of any light-duty diesel engine scenario I needed help with. George was just an easy, interesting guy to be around, had a quiet strength about him, and told great, animated stories about his encounters in the automotive trade. I will always remember and revere him.
