He married the love of his life, Linda Bogdanski on July 15, 1967. She preceded him in death on November 5, 2013. A dedicated and loyal worker, George retired from Heck's Printing after 38 years. He was a passionate boater who liked to fish. He enjoyed woodworking, making several pieces of custom furniture throughout the years. George was a proud member of Ottawa River Yacht Club since 1984 and was commodore in 1999. But the most important thing to George was family. He insisted on hosting and cooking for every holiday and birthday celebration. In addition, he especially took pride in being "Papa" and spoiling his grandkids over the years.
George is survived by his daughter, Dawn (Fiancée Allan) Curtis; son, Christopher (Stacey) Lamprecht; grandchildren, Blake and Jacob Curtis, Hayden and Eden Lamprecht; great-grandchildren, Colton and Isla Curtis and sister, Ruth Ann Neitzel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda and sister, Lois Kautz.
A memorial visitation will be Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with an ORYC Past Commodore service at 7:00 p.m., in the Urbanski's Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI. The funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, March 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church 8330 Lewis Ave Temperance, MI. George was a good mayor of the neighborhood. Never let me forget when it was time to get my lawn mowed. Always helping with advice when I asked for it, and I surely needed a lot of it when I first moved out here. Great gab sessions in the garage in the summer months. He will surely be missed!
