George W. Langevin, 83, of Armington St., Cranston, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 14, 2025. He was the beloved husband of the late Ann (Ziochouski) Langevin.
Born in Johnston, he was the son of the late Ernest and Ovelina A. (LaFlamme) Langevin.
George was raised in Johnston, Rhode Island attending high school at La Salle Academy graduating in 1961.
He was a faithful Catholic man attending church weekly at St Paul's in Cranston and was a brother in the Knights of Columbus.
Always an avid sports fan, he loved and followed the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. But from his earliest days in high school, he loved hockey the most, playing in the winters when he was able and following his New York Rangers and watching every game.
George served his country first in the army and then in the Air National Guard. After the service, George was employed at Ciba Geigy, Hoechst Celanese and later in retirement at part-time at Shaws Market where he made numerous friends.
He followed politics avidly, especially once his nephew and Godson James was elected to Congress. He was very vocal about how proud he was that James served his post with such dignity and honor.
He will be remembered as a man who was happiest when he was surrounded by family, especially his three boys and his two grandchildren. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his beloved wife, Ann, who brought him joy, and they loved sitting in their home, discussing the many shows that they watched. Avid readers, Ann and George always had a variety of books. They would read together, often silently, but always comforted by each other's presence.
He loved and adored his wife and displayed amazing energy and faithfulness as she struggled and progressed through her medical issues. He never asked for help and was fiercely devoted to her care. He always enjoyed toasting to Ann with a shot of peach or apricot brandy whenever the family gathered. Now that they are together again, his family will continue this tradition, toasting to them both.
He is survived by three sons, Bruce A. Langevin and his wife Annette of Hebron, CT, Kevin E. Langevin of Walpole, MA, and Jeffrey M. Langevin and his partner Alicia Carlson of Wakefield, MA; a brother, Robert Langevin and his wife Barbara of Warwick; two sisters, Rita Curtis of Cranston and Elizabeth "Betty" Celucci and her husband Ron of Johnston; a sister-in-law June Langevin of Warwick and two grandchildren, Jenna and Jared Langevin.
