George Wilson "Doobie" Lipe, Jr., age 65, of Canton, GA, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
Born at Cleveland, MS on March 18, 1959, he was a son of the late George Wilson Lipe and Barbara Carol Buckley Lipe. He grew up in Pine Bluff and graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1977. George attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where he earned degrees in Political Science and Electrical Engineering. He was a substitute teacher at Watson Chapel Schools until health issues in 2020 resulted in him moving to Canton, GA to be near his sister.
George was a volunteer football coach for the Pine Bluff Zebras and was active in South Side Baptist Church and Family Church. He spent his spare time painting, collecting art, and visiting Crystal Bridges Museum.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Jonathan Kyle Lipe.
Survivors include his sister, Kelly Ann Lipe (Annette Swint) of Canton, GA; a brother, John James Lipe (Gayle) of Mooresville, IN; a niece, Amanda Lipe; and a great-niece, Natalie Ping.
