George Long, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in Marion, OH, at the age of 82. Born on a crisp Tuesday, February 16, 1943, George's life was a testament to hard work, family devotion, and the pursuit of unique interests.
A dedicated employee of Whirlpool, George committed his career to excellence and reliability, reflecting a work ethic that inspired many. Outside his professional life, George was known for his remarkable collection of belt buckles and tools—symbols of his appreciation for craftsmanship and his knack for collecting what he cherished. Above all, George's greatest achievement was the unwavering care and support he provided to his family, ensuring their needs were always met.
George's love and legacy continue through his devoted wife, Jane, and their sons: Brian; Kelly (Kim Kaple); Jerry; and Brad (Shannon). His grandchildren Jamie, Avia, and Adam will always carry his memory in their hearts, alongside several cherished nieces and nephews. Though preceded in death by his parents and all his brothers and sisters, George's family remains surrounded by the strength of his love.
Family, friends, and those whose lives George touched are invited to honor his memory and celebrate his life's journey. Arrangements have been entrusted to Edwards Funeral Service Hughes-Allen Chapel, where those who knew and loved George can come together in reflection and remembrance.
Family and friends may call from 11AM to 12PM Monday 29, 2025 at Edward Funeral Service 318 Mt Vernon Ave, Marion, OH, with a service at 12PM. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery, Marion, OH.
George will be remembered not only for his collection of belt buckles and tools but for the collection of lives he enriched and the love he cultivated along the way. His legacy of dedication and care will remain a guiding light for those who were privileged to know him.
