George M. Morrison

George M. Morrison, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness. A man defined by service, leadership, faith and unwavering optimism, George lived a full and extraordinary life devoted to his family, his community, his Commonwealth, and his country.

Born in Allston, Massachusetts, George moved to Foxborough in 1969, where he proudly lived, worked, and served for the remainder of his life. Foxborough was not simply his hometown – it was his life's work.

George was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and later served as an officer in the Massachusetts State Guard. His lifelong commitment to military tradition and ceremonial excellence culminated in his service as Captain Commanding of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts, the oldest chartered military organization in the Western Hemisphere. As a Goodwill Ambassador representing the Commonwealth and the Nation, George traveled to more than 50 countries, meeting global leaders including the Pope, several Presidents of the United States, and distinguished figures in public service.

A successful business owner and respected community leader, George served as Past President of the Boston Executives Association, was an active member of the Foxborough Rotary Club and the Knights of Columbus, and contributed to the Town of Foxborough through his work on the Economic Development Committee. He also dedicated countless hours to the youth of Foxboro as a Foxboro Midget Football coach, taking pride in developing young athletes both on and off the field.

His faith was central to his life. George faithfully served at St. Mark's Church in Foxborough for over 50 years in many capacities, and held the role of Senior Warden on multiple occasions. His dedication to service, above self, earned him numerous awards and recognitions from civic, religious and service organizations throughout his lifetime.

Above all else, George was a devoted family man. He was the son of the late Hugh L. Morrison and Margaret (Vincent) Morrison of Allston, MA. He was one of 10 beloved siblings. He is survived by his son George and his wife Jennifer of Foxborough; daughters, Dianne Tepper of Norton, MA, Marianne Russo and her husband Michael of Foxborough, MA, and Jennifer Theos and her husband Thomas of Foxborough, MA. He also leaves his longtime companion, partner and love of his life, Louise D'Onofrio.

George was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy and pride.

Even in his final days, George remained firm in his optimism. He reminded his family that this was not a time to grieve, but a time to celebrate a life well lived. His legacy of integrity, patriotism, faith, leadership, and positivity will live on through all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, February 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough, MA. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 116 South Street, Foxborough, MA, followed by interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Foxborough.
