Obituary - George F. Mulqueen
George F. Mulqueen, Jr., of Houston, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025,
surrounded by his family.
He was born in Mt. Vernon, NY on April 12, 1934, to George F. Mulqueen, Sr. and
Dorothy Cogswell Mulqueen. In 1952 he graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School
and then went to Fordham University in Bronx, NY. where in 1956 he earned his degree
in Political Science. In June of that year, he enlisted in the United States Marines. He
served in the Reserves from 1960 to 1965. He was honorably discharged as Captain.
George began his career as a salesman with Fuller Brush Company in Anaheim, CA.
before moving to Ft. Worth in 1963. His career path changed in 1968 by working for
several top-tier financial institutions. Upon moving to Houston in 1978, George began
working for Smith Barney/Citi Group until his retirement. Working in the financial
business, his compassion and interest in his clients was his commitment to them.
When he wasn't working, George could be found at the Houstonian working out,
puttering on the greens at the golf course or enjoying dining at his favorite restaurants.
His friends described him as a sincere individual, respected by all who knew him.
He was a long-time member and deacon at Second Baptist Church Woodway Campus
in Houston. Memorial Services will be held there on September 5, 2025, at 1:00 P.M in
the Hankamer Chapel, 6400 Woodway, Houston, Texas 77057.
George was proceeded in death by his parents and stepson Kyle Killough. Survivors
include his loving wife of 38 years, Lou Beth Mulqueen; his children Susan Hetzler
(Dale), Robert Mulqueen (Esther), Carol Fluster (Herbert), James Mulqueen (Bobbi),
Barbara Kraus (David), stepsons Kelly Killough (Gail) and Keith Killough (Heather), 14
grandchildren and 4 great children.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in George's name, may be sent to Second
Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Drive, Houston, TX 77057 or a charity of your choice.
