George Pennypacker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beyers Funeral Home & Crematory - Leesburg on Feb. 19, 2025.
George Russell Pennypacker, beloved husband, father, grandfather, coach and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends in his home on February 13th, 2025. He was 77.
Born in West Chester, Pennsylvania to the late George Lewis Pennypacker and Florence Brumgard Pennypacker. George lived a life filled with passion, service, and devotion. For 53 years, he was the devoted husband of Rita Galbraith Pennypacker. Their love story was one of enduring partnership, filled with shared laughter and unwavering support.
George graduated from Henderson High School in West Chester, Pennsylvania in 1965. After high school he proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the US Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in South Korea, where he patrolled the border. His commitment to service extended beyond his military career. He graduated from Temple University and went on to a successful engineering career which started at Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock company in Newport News, VA. He then found a long-term home at the DuPont company in Wilmington, DE, where he dedicated 35 years of his professional life, including time in Louisiana and London.
George was a man of many interests, but he found solace and joy in the outdoors - whether casting a fishing line, patiently waiting in a hunting blind, skiing with close friends in the Poconos, or perfecting his swing on the golf course. Summers spent on Bennys Landing at Marsh Manor held a special place in his heart, creating cherished memories with family and friends. He was also an avid traveler, always eager to explore new places and experience different cultures.
Above all else, George's greatest joy came from his family. Whether coaching his boys and their friends or proudly cheering on his grandsons from the sidelines of countless sporting events, he was a constant presence in their lives. His love for them was immeasurable, and he leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and unwavering support.
George will be deeply missed by his wife, Rita; his children, George Jason Pennypacker (Jennifer) of Orlando Florida, Eric Brendon Pennypacker (Loren) of Havre de Grace Maryland; his grandchildren, Raymond (18), Jack (17), and Myers (15) and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life for George will be held on February 23rd from 2-5pm at The Manor at The Plantation, 25201 US -27 South Leesburg, Florida 34748. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's memory to The Plantation Memorial Park.
