George Peyton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home - Macon on Feb. 27, 2026.
George Weaver Peyton, Jr., 65, of Macon, MO, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 26, 2026, surrounded by his family.

George was born on August 2, 1960, in Riverhead, NY, the son of George and Janice (Wright) Peyton, Sr. He was united in marriage to Tammie Deanne Spencer on July 4, 1991, in Ponca City, OK.

George enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he had a true green thumb with gardening and tending to his plants. George loved frying fish, grilling, and sharing good food with friends and family. He was also a wine maker, crafting his own wine and brandy and making homemade jerky. He had a love for physics and was an all-around naturalist who appreciated how the world worked. George was a people person who never met a stranger, often seen driving his red Ford truck and striking up conversations wherever he went. He especially loved being with his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

George is survived by his wife, Tammie of the home; three children, Kelsey George Peyton and his wife Lindsey of Visalia, CA, Trever Allen Peyton and his wife Madison of Macon, MO, and Kattie Deanne Harris and her husband Malik of Columbia, MO; two grandchildren, Henry and Callie; one brother, Gary Peyton and his wife Mendy; and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Glenn Peyton.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials to the Randy Johnson Memorial Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, MO.
