George Ponce Sr, passed away unexpectedly June 29 2023 at 66 years of age.
He was born October 14,1956 in National City CA. to parents Gilbert & Mary Ponce. George attended Chula Vista High school and then he joined the US Army during the Vietnam era in 1974. He was honorably discharged after serving 2 years active duty and 4 years reserved.
In 1977 George married his long time girlfriend Candy Legerrette with whom he celebrated 46 years of marriage in January. He spent 23 years working as a tow truck driver for Advantage Towing.
George is survived by his wife Candy Le Gerrette, his son George Ponce Jr., his daughter Veronica Ponce, six grandchildren; Efrem, Alexus, Eman, Joey, Marco and Madison, foster son Tristian, two great grandchildren Junior and Rylina, brother Gilbert Ponce, three sisters; Ana, Sandra and Cynthia all born and raised in Chula Vista; God Daughter Marlene Curtis and many nieces and nephews.
George is preceded in death by his parents Gilbert & Mary Ponce and his sister Elizabeth Garcia.
Viewing and Services will be held at Community Mortuary at 855 Broadway Chula Vista on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.
Viewing 12:00 p.m. followed by Service at 2:00 p.m.
A gun salute in his honor will be held on October 13, 2023 at 1:00 at MiraMar Military Cemetery. Those who would like to send flowers can send them to the mortuary, listed above.
