George Edward Porter III, 69, of Valley Grove, WV, died Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at home.
He was born June 24, 1956, son of the late George Porter, Jr. and Betty Sprowls Porter.
George was a US Army veteran, a mechanic for Middle Creek Garage and a parts foreman at Neubauer Trucking Equipment and Truck Stops of America. He loved hunting and fishing with his grandchildren, working on anything and everything and enjoyed going on vacation. Over the last 29 years, he has traveled across the United States with family enjoying historic sites and adventures. He and his wife, Peggy, were married in Las Vegas and made a return trip for their 10 year anniversary, taking the family with them.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Patty Worrell and Virginia Porter; brother, Terry Porter; sisters-in-law, Martha Beck and Becky Payne; and brothers-in-law, Henry Beck and Neal Mundie.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Peggy Porter; daughter, Lisa Porter; sons, George Porter IV, Brian (Candi) Grover and Drew (Deanna) Grover; grandchildren, Alex Edgel, Joseph Porter, Alaina, Gracie, Carly, Rylee, Austin, Ayden Porter, Xavier Grover, Max Grover and Paige Evans; great-granddaughter, Thea Edgel; extended grandchildren; sisters, Kathy Mundie and Bridgette (Brian) Birch; brother, Tim (Bobbie) Porter; and lifelong friend, Andy Eureka.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 6 PM - 9 PM and Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 10 AM until the time of service at 1 PM with Pastor Debra Dague officiating at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling (304-242-2311).
Interment to follow in West Alexander Cemetery, where the Moundsville Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio County Animal Shelter, 7011 National Rd., Triadelphia, WV 26059 (304-547-1013).
